What is Business Edition Linux?
That’s a great question.
The primary objective of BEL Project is to facilitate the installation, configuration and administration of Linux and the software that Linux uses to get the most performance and productivity for your small business, school or small network.
We believe that to foster adoption of Linux in these target markets, it’s not enough to hand someone a CD or DVD and send them on their way.
We answer your questions, we offer suggestions and bring the information right to you. Short of doing it for you, it’s about the next best thing.
We provide ISO’s and CD’s/DVD’s (on OnDisk) currently based on a variety of Linux distributions that have been customized specifically to provide the best results for those in small businesses and schools.
The nest step is to help users put those tools to best use. so not only do we help get you the tools, we help teach you how to use those tools and get the most of them.
BEL Project offers 3 ways to do this.
BEL Project Wiki, which is where you are now. This is to provide static information such as How To’s and other documentation that doesn’t change frequently and is in a constant and easy to find location.
BEL Project Forums. The forums are there to allow users to ask questions and get help on issues ranging from how to setup to discussing business in general using Linux.
BEL Project IRC Channel. Freenode: #belsolution. There is almost always at least one member of the BEL Project team on the IRC channel and we can do out best to chat, share information and possibly even talk you through a project or issue.
Some of us are people in the Tech field, find ways to enhance current offerings for our clients, others are folks who want to expand their Linux knowledge by doing. Getting in the middle of it all and having fun.
All of us are volunteers and learning alike. Trying to bring a great business solution like Linux to the small business world.
