One of the best and most consistent across distros way to access network directories shared with NFS and SAMBA is with Webmin.
It has a module to seek out network shares and mount them for you. (very similar to the PCLOS/Mandriva tool in PCC/MCC)
Let's face it, not every distro has tools to make network access an easily accomplished thing. Webmin makes it a consistent and to use approach regardless of distro.
If you are in a small network or a large one, having access to remote directories and files is something they both need. Having a tool that can help you achieve that in a consistent manner makes IT administration that much easier.
