Igor 948's day job

Because this forum is targeted to small business folks, do it yourselfers and non-profit/school people I often get emails regarding someones 'day job' which isn't always the same as what they are trying t odo with using linux in a small business, school or non-profit. Do you have a 9-5?

Igor 948's day job

I am a Sr Network Engineer for a weight loss clinic chain throughout Michigan and Northern Ohio. The company hired me last year to network their 34 locations to the main office. For the last 30 years they have been communicating everything via fax and phone. We currently have four locations and the main office networked together. The "technology rollout" is temporarily halted while the CIO fine tunes his custom apps for our business. There are also many equipment purchases and logistics to be worked out before we proceed further. Basically, I AM the IT Department. We have hired another programmer for the application side, but when it comes to the operational side of things, I do everything from imaging PCs to provisioning T1 lines (and everything in between). It is a small privately held company and I tend to view myself as a "change broker". I don't think that they realize that with extra technology comes extra policies and procedures.

On a more personal note, I have just finished my Masters of Science in MIS and am looking forward to having a few minutes free time after six years of study. I am excited that the board is back and the BEL lives again. I am a little partial to PCLOS, but I will learn the way of the Bear, and learn to be more distro-agnostic as things develop :D

It's all good. you can love your PCLOS. I have a warm spot for debian and opensuse, it's no secret,. but Iwil lnot be the one to bash others because of their choice of distro. be it buntu or sabayon or any of the 300 plus out there. It's all Linux so it's all good to me.

I know you are not the basher type either, so I have no worries there.
